We use very large tea bags (Paradise 1 ounce tea bags sold elsewhere on Amazon) and use gallon pitchers to make them in. Most tea kettles are less than 4 quarts. This kettle is 6 quarts and well over a gallon. In about 20 minutes on our propane burners, we can heat a gallon of water to a boil, and make a pitcher of tea which will last a day or so. The tea is consumed hot, cold with milk, and iced as iced tea with or without sugar (but often with lemon). The kettle is beautiful, though it needs to be cleaned occasionally. The machining is well done, there was no residue, or solder that concerned us with this kettle. It is very large and has much heavier gauge steel than other smaller kettles. It's very heavy empty, and amazingly heavy when full of boiling hot water. Though my wife, who is not a body builder, has managed for years to operate this kettle and loves it. We needed a second kettle for a new kitchen we acquired and ordered a 2nd kettle. Our older kettle was listed as 6.5 quarts, and sold for $84.95 from a different company (but shipped via Amazon). I was pleased to see the same kettle still being sold, but at a lower price. In 2 years of daily use, our older kettle has shown virtually no sign of wear. The only con for this kettle is no whistle, you must check on it, or set a timer. I have thought about looking for an after market whistle, but it really hasn't been an issue. With over 2 years of use we have never run this kettle beyond it's ability to hold water. It takes a long time to boil off a gallon. If you make a gallon of water at a time, it's a great quality product and looks wonderful in a kitchen.A kettle is a necessity on our little farm. We have hot water going most of the day not only for cups of tea and coffee but use it for sterilizing animal dishes, thawing water pans in winter etc. We had been searching for a new kettle for several months now hoping to find one made in Europe or USA but could not find one we could afford. There are a few out there but very very expensive. We finally narrowed it down to 3 kettles and "sat" on them for a few months, reading reviews, and finding more about each kettle on different websites. What sold us on this teakettle in the end is the spout being one with the kettle and not just something soldered/welded on. Thus eliminating leaks and rusting in seams which many people seem to deal with in reviews. Sad it wasn't still made in Belgium but hoping the quality control by Demeyere was still there. It has been almost 4 months now and can only say we really love this kettle and know it will last quite a few years. It is a bigger than your average kettle and filled with water it is quite heavy, but well made and worth the morning heavy lifting workout to pour that first french press of coffee and cups of tea. Not disappointed at all and can not think of any "cons" to this kettle. Really meets our needs and would order again.I've had mine (4.2 qt) now since March, 2011. I've used it every day since it arrived. On the electric coil stove top, on the induction stove top, on the gas stove I take camping. It still cleans up beautifully enough to stay out on the stove all the time, when guests are here, etc... The short goose neck spout is perfect for pour over coffee, like a chemex, or for pouring directly into cups for single-use tea, etc... The only reason I'm here now is because I wondered if these were still available, and thought I better buy another just in case they were gonna be discontinued. The one I have will probably last the rest of my lifetime, but if anyone ever breaks in to take my stuff, of course they're gonna take the awesome kettle sitting on the stove, so might be good to have one in the cupboard as a backup. ;)Made in Indonesia? Fine by me - people in Indonesia need to eat, too.Purchased the 6.28 Qt Model. Hand-forged in the sleepy little Belgian village of Indonesia.Unlike my Yelp reviews, which I post immediately after a turd bucket experience while it's fresh on my mind, I prefer to wait a while before giving a product review upon months of usage. The model I received in October 2015 was definitely made in Indonesia (see pic.) Had read some reviews mentioning that the smaller 4.2 Qt model was made in Indonesia, while the larger, 6.5 Qt model was more likely to be made in Belgium. Nope. A little disappointed, as country of origin plays a large part in my purchasing decisions, for reasons of quality raw materials and longevity (aka not made in China from questionable means and materials) and was expecting this to be from Belgium. Considered maybe returning it because I felt a little cheated, but was too lazy to return it, and hey, wasn't made in China. Here we are almost a year later: no issues, no visible signs of it falling apart, no rust. I use it daily to brew barley tea. I can make a lot of it at once time. It's nice. Still looks new. Take care of it and it will take care of you.I. Especially like the size of this kettle. My last one was small and I was always having to refill it. This one is lovely and I can put enough water in to last the day! It is also very attractive.. bright and shiny and heats up quickly!!Update vom 06.12.2021Der Kessel hat am Boden (innen) ein Loch.
