This Matcha has a different taste than the brand I was drink previously. It has smooth, buttery taste with hints of green grass and woods. And no absolutely no bitterness. I can drink it without adding any sweetener.The Matcha is a vibrant green color that looks fresh and clean and inviting. It creates a huge head of foam when I use my battery milk frother on it, but if I don’t use the frother or a whisk I find that the Matcha tends to clump a little and doesn’t completely dissolve.So a very nice ceremonial grade match that tastes very good, and as an added bonus it is much less expensive than other comparable brands.***Update***Since my original review...I have compared this matcha shipped from Amazon to matcha directly from Tealyra.The matcha shipped directly from Tealyra is more vibrant and fresh.My order from Amazon had lost a bit of it's color and freshness.The use by date from Amazon has about a year left so I'm not sure if it is old age or improper storage.Do the high temperatures of summer suck the life out of matcha?Either way, it is my opinion that quality matcha should be sampled occasionally to ensure the consumer is getting what is promised.I've had not so good luck with several purchases from different vendors now."Organic Premium Ceremonial Matcha" should be vibrant, fresh, electric green, and full of umami flavor!It would be great to get the good stuff with quick delivery from Amazon!I am by no means an expert on matcha, but I do enjoy a good one. This one was a pretty good price, so I expected the quality to not be as great as other brands. The color was a very healthy green, not faded or old looking, bag was sealed very well. The flavor is great for drinking straight or with whatever additions you enjoy. I will definitely continue to buy from them.This really is a high grade of matcha. I highly recommend getting all of the accessories (like the bamboo whisk, and a strainer), as this is essential to making the perfect matcha tea. It has a really strong earthy aftertaste, but smells really sweet, and the initial sip is sweet as well...but that aftertaste kind of stuck with me. Because of this, I actually started mixing this matcha with dandelion root tea (which in itself has as many positive attributes to it as green tea does), and the two actually compliment each other quite well. The taste does get some getting used to, but I will buy this again!I've been drinking Tealyra's regular matcha for a while now and decided to add this cerimonial grade matcha to my regular matcha order. I'm glad I did! This stuff is so smooth and clean tasting...not bitter whatsoever. So enjoyable to drink.I definitely recommend this to anyone looking at buying a cerimonial grade matcha. Another plus, it's cheaper than most other cerimonial grade matchas.The only other CG matcha that I've had was Kenko's and to be honest, it was just OK. This one is better and less expensive.I was excited to try the matcha upon getting it in the mail this morning. I have had good experiences with other varieties of matcha from Tealyra in the past, but this was a terrible purchase.The matcha is gritty. I'll accept that some matchas are sweeter than others, some have more umami, but this was gritty. At first, I considered that perhaps it was my whisking technique, but after whisking hundreds of bowls of tea for the past year now, I have never experienced gritty tea. Sometimes, there are clumps that won't break up (and leave a bitter ending to the matcha), but this was not the case with Tealyra. Instead, I could feel the particles going down my throat. Hardly the smooth taste I would want my guests to feel.I purchased this package because I have a tea event tomorrow afternoon. I am very glad that I tried it beforehand. It would have been wholly embarrassing if I had served such a terrible tea to my guests. Tealyra—I know you can do better. If there was a production issue with this batch, you should count your losses and just repurpose it cooking-grade matcha.I'll try making this with some soy milk and see if it fares any better.I ordered this matcha after regularly enjoying Tealyra's "Samurai Ceremonial Blend" as a daily sipping drink for months. What I received was their premium culinary matcha (easy to tell the difference, especially given experience!); what was received is not a ceremonial matcha as it does not whisk properly (lots of floating debris in the tea and NO FOAM) and the flavor is bitter and improper for a whisked tea. The tea does not, in any shape or form, foam and whisk properly and does not taste as one would expect from a proper matcha for sipping. The situation worsens, however, as I contacted Tealyra directly through Amazon to rectify their mistake in sending me the incorrect product, and I never received a response after roughly 10 days of waiting. I am left with no recompense, per flawed Amazon business practice, and the incorrect product. Truly deplorable and inconsiderate business relations. I am happily sipping Midori Spring once more and I will never again purchase a Tealyra matcha blend. Tea is to be relaxing and enjoyable, Tealyra does the exact opposite of this ideal and causes unrest and dissatisfaction.I like this product but am wondering if the ingredient contains any green color reagent?The green color in the tea powder is so green.Will definitely buy again, worth the price.was given this to try for health reasons.
